Southern Highlands Branch: Winter Seminar & AGM

All past and current members are warmly invited to join us for our WINTER SEMINAR and our 40th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIONS.

Our AGM will take place prior to the seminar.

Our celebration will include THREE guest speakers, lunch and special presentations to celebrate our milestone.

Our patron, Professor Tim Entwisle, will MC the event as well as treat us to the first talk on his soon-to-be-released book, Three Worlds Oak: Memoir of a Genus. This book tells the story of a dying hybrid oak in Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens, which sets off on an imaginative search for its parents, and in doing so reveals the extraordinary diversity of the genus Quercus.

After lunch, Ian Carroll and Chris Webb will tell the story of the development of the arboretum at Oldbury. The arboretum itself is a 5-acre tree collection created from former paddocks since about 2013. It includes: a loop walking trail, specimen deciduous trees, a pinetum (conifer collection), a native garden, a prairie garden and a lookout and restored hawthorn hedges.

This event is sure to be popular and numbers are limited due to venue capacity.
