Sydney Branch: Zoom webinar 7th June – Stuart Read on Paul Sorensen, landscape designer (life & career)

7 June 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm AEST

$5 – $10

Outline of Talk

A survey of the life and work of perhaps the greatest NSW landscape designer. Unlike Edna Walling, with a monthly plan and column in a popular magazine, Sorensen put little on paper, preferring working in 3D on site, in person with the client. He came to Australia escaping the impending war in Europe. He got a break in the Blue Mountains, and set up two nurseries and a growing stable of design and garden jobs. Over 7 decades he worked on some 100 gardens spanning from Canberra to the Queensland border. Few are heritage listed, documented or understood.

Stuart’s Bio

He has worked for the Australian Heritage Commission and Environment. Australia’s world heritage & biodiversity units.
