Victoria Branch: Self-drive visit to Broughton Hall, Jindivick

9 May

The Garden at Broughton Hall

This formal garden is over twenty-five years old and has been compared to Versailles. The four acres of terraced gardens cascade down the slope with views over the Tarago Reservoir and the rolling hills of West Gippsland. The rich volcanic soil, high rainfall and good altitude have resulted in an amazing variety of plants and foliage set out in 14 key parts that are beautifully united together.  Autumn highlights will include the formal rose garden, many bulbs and colourful foliage.

After a sumptuous morning tea, we will have a guided tour with the owners, Phillip Hunter and David Musker, then have time to wander and eat your BYO lunch at your leisure.  The rare plant nursery will also be open for your purchases.
