Diana Craig and Harbury Reserve

Author: Trevor Pitkin

Harbury Reserve provides an outline of the life of Diana Craig, whose deep connection with place formed at an early age early, and culminated in mid-life with the formation of the beautiful forest it is today. Born into a life of relative privilege, Diana was an intelligent and determined woman who forged an outstanding career in orthoptics, a specialisation under ophthalmology that was emerging as a field around the time she left secondary education at Clyde School.

The booklet brings into view some of the influences on Diana, ranging from her family through to her professional and art world connections. It also sets out the details of the histories on the various titles that constitute Harbury. As Diana realised her health was in decline, she donated the property to Trust For Nature (TFN), to ensure it remains maintained in the spirit in which it was created. Harbury Reserve was prepared by joint effort of AGHS and TFN.
